aim4 worked together with St George’s C of E School in Gravesend to design a bespoke programme of activities covering a range of art forms and practices using literacy as a stimulus to run two one-week projects that culminated in the students creating a large-scale mosaic.

Using the extracts from novels and poetry as stimuli, students worked with a variety of arts techniques to create their own interpretation of the text, whether through visual art, sculpture, drama and photography. Students developed creative skills in a number of art forms, experimented with new ideas, worked with different text as stimuli, developed individual and team work skills whilst becoming more accustomed with their new school environment.

What they said…

aim4 is a well organised and professional team who worked closely with

St. George's to devise packages to meet the needs of groups and individuals at our Summer School this year.  Year 6 students will join us in September with greater confidence, improved self-esteem and more friends.  Students speak confidently about working in teams and learning to listen to others as well as share their own creative thoughts to develop ideas in art, literacy and numeracy.

Carolyn Edwins, Deputy Head

St George's C of E School, Gravesend

'I would like to thank you on the well-run summer school that my son, Alfie, attended this year.  He had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed his week with you. My husband and myself feel very proud of the fact that his mosaic is part of the school and a lasting legacy of his time spent/to be spent with you.  Alfie is starting today and though a little anxious, which he would never admit to, I'm sure that his week spent with you has built on his confidence and will make his transition that much easier. So thank you again for your wonderful summer school.'
